Snug and Cozy

The Snowpocalypse has come. The wind is whipping at about 32 mph, and it's snowing. They've already cancelled school tomorrow, and Karl doesn't have to go in to work. I was "on call" for the store, but I got the call about that too ("Stay home - nobody's going to be shopping.") We're stocked up on groceries and cat food (because that 3/4 mile to the store would be treacherous).

There was a little excitement today: First of all, I walked Katrina to the bus and felt pretty good. Then around midday, our new computer was delivered! I almost didn't answer the door, good thing I did. Then, I picked up Katrina and the cello from school. I made her carry the cello, I know she can. The wind was aleady starting to get bad after school, luckily, I broke the rule and parked in the bus lane when I picked up Katrina (I played handicapped - but NOT in the handicapped spot, don't worry)

I made some fabulous chicken a'la king and cherry cobbler for dinner, going to cast on a new knitting project for February (a sweater for Katrina), we're all tucked in, and all 3 of us are clad in polar fleece and handknits (OK, well, I'm wearing the handknits), so let's hope the power doesn't go out.

SNOWMAGEDDON 2011

OK, I am ready for the next snowpocalypse. 10 - 20 inches predicted between monday afternoon and wednesday morning. I'm all stocked up on bread, milk, and of course, yarn! I'm glad I have two cats to snuggle up with. You wouldn't believe how much heat a 7 lb hairless cat gives off! I suppose I could be really nice and volunteer to go in to work - if she decides to open up at all - so that Megan doesn't have to make the drive in. I can sit on my butt and knit at work just as easily as I can at home.

This is it

So I had my lymph node mapping. I thought it was just a dye, but no. It's a radioactive tracer. So, apparently I'm "hot" for the next 12-24 hours.

Of course, we're having a snowstorm today (and tonight), so driving to Madison twice for separate appointments was not fun. The roads were passable, and only saw 4 cars in the ditch on the last trip. Tomorrow morning will be snarky because it will be so early (oh, and we have to leave even earlier because of the snow).

My bag is packed: toothbrush, socks, underwear, knitting - good to go! Having a fabulous dinner in - pulled pork enchiladas with salsa verde. The house smells so good! My mom made it to the house without sliding off the road, and boy did she bring the luggage! At least I know she's staying for a few days and I won't have to worry about getting Katrina off the school in the mornings.

Hopefully by this time tomorrow I'll be awake and hospital cable will have Versus so I can watch the bike race.

White Stuff

I have always loved winter. Snowy days just make it OK to snuggle on the couch under a blanket all day.
But today, it's just making me nervous. Blizzard warning until 6pm, scattered power outages, and we have our City Band Christmas Concert at 4pm. The Opera House is literally one mile from the house, no big deal for me, and most of the other band members. But, my mom lives 45 minutes away (in good weather) out in the country. For her sake, I hope the concert is postponed. It would be fine if we weren't playing "Hallelujah Chorus" with each trumpet playing a different part. As hard as I try, I cannot play two different parts simultaneously.
So, for now, I'm snuggling on the couch, watching a movie, and working on another christmas mitten.
